‘Praise the Lord’ as a Weapon of Warfare
2 Chronicles 20

- We are used to just saying ‘Praise the Lord’, but we do not know the significance.
- The Bible describe that when the Moabites and the Ammonites declared war against the people of the kingdom of Judah.
- Jehosaphat, the King of Judah, sought the face of God, and a prophecy came out through the prophet Jabaziel, that God would fight the battle for them, and all they needed to do was to praise God.
- On the day of the battle, the Bible says Jehoshaphat appointed singers who were praising the Lord, and they went in front of the soldiers as they went into battle.
- The Bible records in vs. 21, And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever. All the singers were singing the word ‘Praise the Lord’.
- As they were singing and praising the Lord, God set an ambush against the Moabites and the Ammonites, and all of them were destroyed by the inhabitants of Mount Sair.
- In summary, Jehosaphat and the people of Judah achieved victory over their enemies without shooting a single arrow.
- It was their song and saying ‘Praise the Lord’ that achieved victory for them.
