Praise leads to victory
2 Chronicles 13
- Rehoboam succeeded Solomon as king, and Abijah succeeded Rehoboam.
- However, during the reign of Rehoboam, Jeroboam, the son of the servant of a servant to Solomon, rebelled against Rehoboam.
- After the death of Rehoboam, Abijah, who succeeded him, was involved in a war with Jeroboam, the rebel.
- Jeroboam ambushed Abijah and the people of Judah, both in the front and at the back.
- But the Bible has it to say that when the priest of Judah blew the trumpet, their soldiers shouted. God fought for them and smote Jeroboam to death.
- In vs. 20, neither did Jeroboam recover strength again in the days of Abijah: and the Lordstruck him, and he died. The Bible records that God himself struck Jeroboam to death.
- The lesson here is that if you blow a trumpet to God and give a shout, God himself will fight for you.
