Esther 1:12 KJV commentary
Character of Queen Vashti
Vashti was the wife of King Ahasuerus, who was the King of Persia and Media.
- She must have been a very beautiful woman because the King wanted to exhibit her beauty to his guests. The Bible says she was fair.
- She was also a very classy queen, for she refused to be brought by house servants to come and dance before the drunken guests of the king.
Character of Queen Vashti
- She was removed from office as the queen because the king felt offended that she did not subject herself to his command.
- What is interesting about this story is how the downfall of a person can lead to the rise of another person,
- If Queen Vashti had obeyed the King, Esther would not have become the Queen.
- Esther was the Hebrew lady who was competitively selected as the Queen, a replacement of Vashti.
- There is no way Esther could have ever imagined herself becoming a queen, but the sovereign God could allow some incident to happen to fulfil his plan for men.
