God of Equity and Justice

Read Numbers 26

1. God instituted equal rights for all men based on the principle that the blessings of the earth are for all.
2. Shortly before the Israelites entered the promised land at the plains of Jordan and Jericho, God directed Moses and Eleazar the Priest to undertake a census of all the Israelites, and a total of 601,730 people were numbered.
3. God directed that the land should be divided according to the number of people and the names of people numbered (vs. 52-54). This ensured equity, as everyone had land of property.
4. God also directed that the land be divided by lots, which guaranteed fairness and justice and ensured that no particular person or tribe was allocated the choicest area.
5. This principle of fairness, equity, and justice should be applied to our daily activities.
