Hosea 4 vs 2 & 6

² By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood.

⁶ My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

1. God lamented in Hosea vs 1 – 2 that the Israelites are committing many sins.
2. These includes lying, not showing mercy, murder, stealing, lack of fear of God and adultery.
3. God attributed the problems the Israelites were facing to their many sins.
4. This is the background to the popular quotation that ‘’my people are destroyed because of lack of knowledge’’.
5. Sin destroys, to avoid the wages of sin, you need to increase your knowledge on the commandments of God.
6. Avoid sins, so that it will not destroy you, your marriage, family, business, destiny, household, etc.
