Memorise: “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before” (Phil. 3:13). Read: Judges 6:11-14 |
One Sunday morning, a man became very impatient. He did not wait till the end of the service before leaving. As he drove off, not too far from the church, he had an accident by the ring road. He was there stranded until the service ended and others passed him and went home. But he remained there. If you enjoy walking out on God, you had better repent of it today: If the President of this nation invites you to a meeting, can you afford to walk out on him? Why then do you not fear the President of presidents? That place you are rushing to, you can only get there if God says you would. Besides, there are certain blessings that are reserved for those who wait till the end of the service. They are the ones who receive the full blessings. Stop treating God with disdain or disregard from today. ”And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? And where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? But now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites” (Judges 6:13). Another sign that the fire is out is that ashes gather. When a lamp stops burning, ashes will take over the place of the fire. As in the physical so is the spiritual. Ashes represent past testimonies, old glory and the past move of God in our lives. Whenever you hear someone say: “I used to be highly anointed; God used me mightily those days. ” Know the fire has gone out. Journalism as a profession thrives on news and events. They will tell you there is nothing as stale as yesterday’s newspaper. Are you becoming stale? When the fire goes out, you will be filled with stale, not fresh news. This was the exact scenario with the children of Israel in our passage today. God was once in their midst moving in signs and wonders. But as at this point, He had forsaken them leaving them with stale news. How is it with your life today? Are you one of those left only with stale news of what God did in and through you? You are living in the past. When last did you experience a fresh move of God in your life? When last did you pray for someone and the person experienced a divine touch and came out to testify? When last did you have the joy of being a soul-winner? If there are no hot, fresh and stimulating testimonies in your life, your fire has gone out. The Lord has forsaken you. Rise up today and examine yourself and locate the point of departure. Make necessary amends and cry out for the restoration of God’s graces on your life and ministry. |

Father, in any area I am growing stale, freshen me up. Fill my life with daily miracles. |
