Bible Lesson
Read 1 Samuel 14

Two things we learnt from 1 Samuel 14:
- God does not need a multitude to win a battle. He can save and deliver by many or few – vs 6 And Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these uncircumcised: it may be that the Lordwill work for us: for there is no restraint to the Lord to save by many or by few.
- It is not advisable to place curses, as the victim may be from your household. Saul put a curse that anyone who eats before the Philistines are defeated would die – vs 24 And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food.
- Jonathan, his son, was unaware of this curse and unknowingly tasted honey, which also strengthened him on the battlefield.
- Jonathan was condemned to death when Saul discovered his son had violated the curse. But the people of Israel saved Jonathan.
