| DIVINE MARKS OF PROPHECIES |
|
Memorise: “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing but the flesh is weak” (Matthew 26:41). Read: Matthew 23:37-39 |
| There is a spirit behind every prophecy. All prophecies emanating from God have the testimony of Jesus which is the spirit of prophecy. The spirit of each prophecy will dictate the tone, tune and topic of the message. Revelation 19:10 says, ‘And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not; I am thy fellow servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” Any prophecy that comes from Jesus will bear His mark of kindness, love, humility and gentleness. If you are doing something wrong and the Lord is going to talk about it, He will say it in a way as to make you willing to repent. He may say for example, I have a lot of good things I want to do for you because I love you. But if you don’t stop fornicating, I will not be able to fulfill my promises to you. When you hear such a prophecy garnished in love, you will be moved to tears and repent. There was this brother who loved the Lord with his heart but continued to struggle with youthful lusts. Now and again, he kept asking the Lord to help him overcome fornication. One night, the Lord told him He was taking him to a greater spiritual height and gave him great promises. Then he told him to be married the following year even though the brother had other plans. The brother sought God’s will in marriage and became married. It later dawned on him that this was one recipe the Lord gave him to overcome lust. Are you still living in secret sins? By such, you will be obstructing God from really taking you to your greater heights. Repent today and completely yield unto God. As Jesus wept over Jerusalem, is He still weeping over you today? Any true prophecy that comes from Jesus must also come with the burden of the Lord. That is, with the prophecy comes a certain concern expressed by the Lord. For instance, in Isaiah 1:19-20, the burden of the Lord was for His children to become obedient in order to avert judgement and destruction. Any prophecy that does not express the burden on the heart of Jesus must be treated with suspicion until proved otherwise. |
