| The faith clinic we hold every Thursday came by the word of prophecy. A month before my trip to America several years ago, the Lord spoke to me at Ilorin that I was going to start a Faith Clinic. I came to Lagos enroute the United States, and our father in the Lord told me the Lord was about to start something through me. I just smiled because this was a confirmation of what the Lord told me. When I eventually arrived at the United States, Reverend Kenneth Hagin was prophesying one night when he said, there was somebody from a foreign land in their midst, through whom God was about to begin something in his sitting room which will become very big. I also smiled because God was further confirming what He earlier told me. “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God” (Romans 8:16). Your spirit man can act as a check either to affirm or denounce prophecies. If a prophecy is given and your spirit immediately rises against it, it is most likely emanating from a false prophet. On one occasion, a pastor stood at a meeting about Christmas period. He said we must pray hard or else six pregnant women were going to die before the new year. Immediately, my spirit rose in protest of that prophecy. I questioned: Of what benefit would the death of six pregnant women be to God? Does God eat pregnant women for breakfast? As soon as I had the opportunity to address the congregation, I told them that prophecy was a false one and that they will not die. In spite of what I said, some men whose wives were pregnant, out of fear still went behind to see the pastor with gifts to help them pray that their wives will not be victims. Before accepting any prophecy, first consider the purity of the vessel. Is the one prophesying born again and Holy Spirit filled? Does he have many wives and concubines? What is his rating in holiness, honesty and financial matters? In order words, what kind of fruits does he bear? Remember, by their fruit, you shall know what kind of spirit is operating in them. Any prophet with low rating in the above is unfit to give you a prophecy. Be wise. |
