If you were in the congregation at the heart of intense praise and worship, and the Holy Spirit began to move; suddenly, somebody gets up and begins to prophesy, how could you know if that prophecy is of God or not?
According to Deuteronomy 18:20-22, if it is of God, it will definitely be fulfilled. A prophet once said that Lagos State will perish in 1975 yet the state is still existing till date. When a man of God speaks directly from God, it will surely come to pass.
Another way of determining whether a prophecy is of God or not is by the accompanying conditions. In 2 Chronicles 7:14 God gave certain conditions which will determine whether He will forgive His people and bring His blessings upon them. They were expected to humble themselves, pray, seek His face through fasting and turn from their wicked ways.
If Nigerians can satisfy the conditions stated in this verse, God will send prosperity, progress and other good things. When you receive prophecies, watch out for the accompanying conditions. Prophecies without conditions must be suspected.
A particular brother was called forward to receive a prophecy The Lord said he should seek His face and in two years He would make him a millionaire. He jumped at this but only appeared to have heard one part of the prophecy – about becoming a millionaire.
Businesses and contracts soon started coming to him to the tune of millions of naira. Then he forgot God. There was no more time for God. He had become too busy to pray, worship and fellowship with the brethren. Business appointments were now freely fixed on Sundays.
Then, one after the other, he started losing the contracts. He became angry with the prophet and accused him of lying. Was it a lie? The scripture says, say ye to the righteous, it shall be well with him. Most of God’s promises are conditional.
If you do not satisfy the conditions, God will not release the blessings. Arise today and meet with the necessary conditions God has given to you so that your prophecies will be fulfilled. You can count on God’s faithfulness.
