Memorise: “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise”( Hebrews 10:36). Read: Hebrews 10:35-39 |
| If you have felt as if God was very far from you, it is for certain reasons. First, it is to enable you cultivate patience. The 21st Century bug – the microwave mentality is fast catching up with the church. Believers want to have everything they are taught now. They want to grow and become Christian adults now. They want God to answer every prayer item now. They want to say Lord, I want a wife and God will give them one immediately and they will get married the same day. It does not work like that. This craze has brought mockery into Christianity and mediocrity into excellence. Romans 15:5 says God is the God of patience. God may choose to work urgently sometimes and patiently at other times. No one can dictate the pace to God. If you desire to walk with the God of patience, then you must be patient. There are certain requests the Lord will not grant in a hurry hence Hebrews 10:36 says, “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. ” Have you prayerfully paid your tithes or sown a seed? Then you require patience to harvest the blessing. Have you obeyed God over any personal issue? You require patience to reap the accompanying blessing. Refusing to be patient can truncate the process and terminate the blessing. Another reason for God being silent could be to test your faith level. It is easy to believe in God and trust Him to see you through difficult situations when you feel his presence at home or in church. But when it appears God is far away, many will easily lose confidence in God and yield to fear and doubt. The Christian walk is a walk of faith. Faith and feelings do not always agree. Feelings and sight go together. If you always want to wait until you see or feel the blessing, you will live a life of doubt. You have not seen God yet you believe He exists. That’s faith. As long as you have satisfied the conditions spelt out by God’s word, go ahead in faith. Your faith will eventually give rise to the physical blessing. God is looking for those whose faith will be unshaking whether they feel Him near or not. Where do you stand? |
