In Matthew 28:1-7, before the Lord arose from the grave, there was an earthquake. Anywhere an earthquake occurs, people will gather. In contemporary times, if there is an earthquake in any major city, representatives of the various media will be there to provide live coverage.
If it occurred in developed countries, different groups or individuals conducting research on earthquakes will be there to measure the dimensions of the earthquakes, as well as the extent of loss of lives and properties and compare these with past ones.
it occurred in developing countries, some people will be there to pick properties of victims which to them are a windfall. The misfortune of some has become the fortune of other. Anyhow, those living in the affected areas will be evacuated to other safer location.
An earthquake is a phenomenon that nobody can ignore. This was one reason God caused the earthquake- to alert both the community where it happen as well as the entire world that the Lord has risen. God knows how to get the attention of anyone. Have you been trying to get someone’s attention for so long without success? Ask God to send an earthquake to the fellow. God’s earthquake can bring about divine remembrance.
Just as nobody an ignore an earthquake, so also nobody ignore Jesus Christ. The moment you allow Him into your life, nobody will be able to ignore you again. If you really want to attract attention like the earthquake, become a Christian. If you say you are a born again Christian but you are still ignored, or your life is not attracting attention of others, that claim is suspect.
May be what you have is not the genuine faith in Christ. The attraction you get by selling your body for money, or by drinking in bear parlors do not last. You do not get lasting attention by doing things like the world.
But when you refuse to conform with the style of the world, or rebel against it according Romans 12:1-2, you will get their attention. How are you getting attention today? You can make yourself relevant to your generation by being different for Jesus. Another God sends earthquakes is to open prison doors and set the captives free.
Are you in captivity? The Lord will send His earthquake and set you free!
