Memorize: “Be of the same mind one toward
another mind not high things, but condescend to
men of low estate. Be not wise in your conceits” (Rom12:16)
Read Romans 12:3-5
Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of flow of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits” (Romans 12:16). There are two broad types of criticism – the constructive, (change – producing type) and the destructive, (change-forbidding type).
Whether the criticism. The goals criticism is to bring about correction, a change in the positive direction, but often, this goal is not realized because of poor presentation. Some people are so criticism-unfriendly that any unguarded criticism is capable of sending them into their shells of inactivity.
This is why care is needed when ever there is need to correct someone. If you want that corrective comment to deliver its intended purpose, carefully package it with wisdom.
Let us learn from the Lord’s example. In Revelation chapter two and three, when trying from to correct the seven churches over their erroneous deeds, the lord started by enumerating their areas of strengths.
In other words, He encouraged them on how they could make emends and left them with a promise they should joyfully work hard at. Anyone you criticisms constructive or destructive?
It is dangerous to have a very critical spirit. The one who is so critical of persons and issues may so focus on the wrong doings of others that they become blinded to their theirs. Similarly, the fellow may not see the virtues inherent in the one criticized. The truth is that no mater the weakness or fault in an individual, the fellow would still have something good – even if it is just one. God expects you to concentrate on the few good – sides or traits of the one being criticized.
The highly critical person will most likely sin with his tongue. According to James 3:2, such an individual will be far from being perfect.
Roman 8:1 says Jesus came to take away the condemnation of the law. But the critical fellow teams up with the devil to condemn others what makes you more like Christ is your ability to remove not add the burden of condemnation to your fellow brother.
Complaining about the fault of others cannot change them, but your prayer, position attitude and encouragement will.
