Memorise: “So then neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase” (1 Cor 3:7)

“And Adam knew Eve his wife: and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD” (Genesis 4:1). The name ‘Cain’ means ‘a man from God’. We want to learn some lessons from this passage.
First, it is God who gives increase after a seed is sown, hence you must remember to give Him glory for all successes. Adam planted a seed which produced a son, but Eve said the product of copulation was from God, not Adam. 1 Corinthians 3:6 says, “I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase”.
All known church growth strategies may be put in place, but unless God gives an increase, they will amount to wasted efforts. When your church grows, give God all the glory. If you allow pride because of some level of growth or progress in ministry, the One with the midas touch will be forced to withdraw His support.
May the Lord never withdraw support from you. During one Holy Ghost Congress, someone came to ask what I did to gather such a crowd. It’s God.
Another thing we notice here is that although a baby boy was born, Eve called him a man. This shows that everything you need to become what God wants you to be is already in you at birth – waiting to be watered or nurtured. A girl does not wait to attain the age of 12 or 13 before going to buy a pair of breasts from the supermarket. They have been in her from birth as nipples, awaiting proper food and water to develop in size.
Although every human being has the potential of becoming what God has made them to be, those who refuse to eat the heavenly bread and drink the water of God’s Word will have stunted growth. This accounts for different growth patterns in those who were born again on the same day. Your hunger affects your appetite, which equally influences what and how you eat. While some believers grow rapidly, the growth of others is slow. The degree of variation in-between the growth rates is a function of their hunger for God’s Word, praise and worship, prayer, etc.
By His grace, I have a large personal library because of an insatiable hunger for knowledge. Yet, whenever I travel abroad, I focus on buying more books, not clothes, because I want to grow. I don’t want to die where I am. I want to be all God wants me to be. The moment you think you have arrived and stop reading, you stop growing and start to die. Are you watering what God has deposited inside of you? If you do not water it, you cannot produce your best for God’s Kingdom.
Spend an hour to glorify God for past achievements.
