Family Comes From God We All Belong
Genesis 3 vs. 1-24
Happy marriage, marital crisis,
We live in an imperfect world and it is all too easy to get used to the way things are, even though that may be second best or really bad. Imagine that you are the owner of a rusty old bicycle. It is so old that it is hard work to pedal on the flat but you are happy with the way it rattles along.
After all it is the only bicycle in the district. Then your friend who is a mechanic in town comes home. He takes a horrified look at your old bike and sets to work with spanners, screwdrivers and oil. In an hour it’s a completely different machine. You wonder how you could ever have been satisfied with the way it was.
Family can be like the old bicycle. It is in need of repair but we don’t realize because “that’s the way things are.” …..unless we face up to the mess and ugliness of many marriages and families today we will not see the contrast with the glorious possibilities God has prepared for us to enjoy.
Genesis 3 opens as Satan enters the perfect world God made. Adam and Eve are enticed to disbelieve the beauty and goodness of God’s creation. Look at some of the results.
- Shame of nakedness. “They realized they were naked and sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves” (3:7) See the contrast with2:25 when the man and woman were naked and felt no shame. Today, men and women still hide who they really are from each other. There are hidden secrets in many families. We are not open with one another.
- Fear of God. “They hid from the Lord God” (3:8). What a change from Genesis 2 where there was an open relationship with God. Probably Adam and Eve had often walked with God in the cool of the day. Now they hide. We still do.
- Blaming each other (3:12). God asks Adam. “Where are you? Who told you you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree?” God is not impressed when Adam passes the buck saying, “The woman you gave me…”. How far Adam and Eve have fallen from the beauty of their first meeting. Modern families are marred by blaming and accusing one another.
- Conflict in the home. The domination by the husband in 3:16 is part of God’s curse. It is a picture of domestic violence far removed from the harmony and loving headship implied in Genesis 2.
- Fighting between brothers. It got so bad Forget the former things; do not dwell on that Cain murdered his brother (4:8) and went out from the Lord’s presence (4:16).
- Polygamy. Already in Genesis 4 Lamech married two women (4:23). Marriage had become a matter of convenience rather than a partnership growing into oneness(see2: 24)

i will like you to please help me with some biblical principle to strengthen my home and also with some prayer point. i just want to get back that husband and proposed to me 2yrs back, that husband that we both share and walk together. help me get him back through prayers
Me and my wife love each other so much and we will like to remain and be happy like this forever, may God’s grace, mercy and favour be sufficient for us
I want to thank God for giving me a father, brother and uncle as a husband, I ask Him for a husban and he gave me all this wonderful relations as a Husban. To God be the Glory.

I am in need of prayers for my marriage. I have had a problem holding my job and it has caused stress to both of us. She has since moved out but I believe we can save this relationship. It will need both of us working toward the same goal. I do not know if she is willing to do this — I have asked her to keep her heart and mind open. I need prayers to provide knowledge of God’s will about us. I am going to consuling now and am willing to do almost anything [if not illegal/immoral] to repair this marriage. It will take a lot of effort and tears but I believe it will be worth it. Please pray that God lets the ‘true me’ reappear and stay. I love her so much but I should have been better emotional controlled. No physical harm caused but what is said in anger is far more harmful to everyone involved. I would give anything to go back in time and do things differently.
My wife threw me out of the house almost six months ago. I am now living with my parents. I thought we would be back together by now.
My business wasn’t making money and I was drinking more than I should. I am looking for work and have been attending AA hoping that I can regain her love and respect.
She is friendly towards me but says she no longer loves or respects me. She will be 50 in December and still beautiful.
She has told me that she will be starting a new life and will eventually meet another man to spend the rest of life with.
We have three children that I miss and adore and wish I could be there with them every day to see them grow up.
My heart cries for them everyday 24/7. I am so sorry for taking my wife Maureen for granted. Im doing the best i can to make the changes acceptable to her.
All this time she has gone out of her way to avoid me however, for the first time since I was thrown out we will be out as a family for Halloween, not for us but for the kids. I hope I make a good impression and maybe her heart and mind will reopen to me and she can find some of those old feelings in herself for me.
I love her and my family and want to go back home.
