The Bible is the sword of the spirit. Your faith in God can also only be increased by reading and understanding the Bible. More importantly the Bible is the road map for our daily life. You need to know what you believe. You need to know several scriptures that o various themes such as healing, prosperity, deliverance, and salvation by heart in order to overcome the battles of daily life and be a good evangelist.
Paul said we study to show ourselves approved.
Unfortunately, many people have problems memorizing Bibles verses. How do you overcome this difficulty? You need to pray and believe you can do all things.
When God saw the children of men building the Tower of Babel, he commented that if men are left to themselves, then can do anything they imagine to do. So God has given mankind power to do the imaginable.
Few years ago, when I was facing some afflictions, and I had a divine instruction to memorize a very long passage 2 Samuel 22. a chapter with 51 verses. To the glory of God I was able to achieve this and recited it several times daily. Although like a typical Christian I can no longer recite the chapter these days that God has delivered me from the affliction.
But the point I want to make is that you can do all things. The scriptures say this, confess it, believe it and practice this. Take up a particular verse; say to yourself you can do all this according to the word of God. Talk to your brain and go ahead and memorize it.
Many Moslems are able to memorize the whole of the Koran. It is a shame on Christians that very few of us can memorize few verses of the Bible. But we can do all things, if we wish!
I hve prayed to God to help so as to be able to understand the bible. Understanding and memorizing the bible, what can I do to achieve these. I am a member of MFM church in london. Is there any kind of prayer or type of bible to make me understand the bible better.
I think it is a general problem, but it can be overcome.
My family started a techique recently which is working, I wrote out short verses of the scriptures on various themes (healing, deliverance, prosperity, protection) and we all memorise a particular passage either in the morning or in the evening.
The first thing is to choose a passage and explain the meaning of its verses. Then we repeatedly read it out together from the scriptures up to five or six times.
After this, we all close our Bible and read it out by heart for another three to four times.
In the subsequent days, we are always able to recite the passage without referring to the Bible.
I found out that this is an easy and convenient way of memorising the scriptures.
The strategy is that, do not be too ambitious. If you are able to memorise only a verse per day, it is okay. Also, work in a group. The Bible says Iron sharpeth Iron. If two or three of you fix a time daily, and memorise particular verse (s) of the Bible together by repeatitions, then you should be able to achieve some results.
