Bible story of King Baasha
1 Kings 16
- He was the son of Ahijah, who became the King of Israel.
- God promoted him from dust to palace, making him a king – vs.2 Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;
- He followed the footsteps of King Jeroboam, committing the sin of idolatry.
- He led Israel to sin against God.
- God decreed poverty, penury, tragedy, and sorrow against Baashe and his household because of his acts of idolatry.
