Commentary on the parable of the Sower
The parable of the Sower is one of the most popular parables by Jesus; its main lessons are:
- There are wicked forces stealing the Word of God from the hearts of men. Verse 3- Behold, a Sower went forth to sow;4 And when he sowed, some seeds fell by the way side, and the fowls came and devoured them up:
- Evil birds stealing the word of God from my heart, shall die in Jesus’ name.
- Word of God be rooted in my heart in Jesus’ name.
- You need to grow and develop spiritually otherwise you may back slide. Verse 5-6 -Some fell upon stony places, where they had not much earth: and forthwith they sprung up, because they had no deepness of earth: And when the sun was up, they were scorched; and because they had no root, they withered away
- Word of God shall prosper in my life in Jesus’ name
- Pleasures of this word and wordiness are enemies of the cross. You need to choose between the cross and the word. Verse 7- And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprung up, and choked them:
- Not all churches are good ground. Not all ministries are fertile ground. Not all Christians bear fruit for the kingdom. Verse 8- But other fell into good ground, and brought forth fruit, some an hundredfold, some sixtyfold, some thirtyfold.
- I shall not be a barren Christian in Jesus’ name
- I shall not be spiritually barren in Jesus’ name
- I shall bear fruit for the kingdom in Jesus’ name
- I shall bring souls to the kingdom in hundreds, thousands, millions, and billions, in Jesus’ name
- Through me millions shall repent and be saved in Jesus’ name
- My tithes shall fall on fertile ground in Jesus’ name
- My offerings shall fall on good ground in Jesus’ name
- I receive a hundred-fold reward in Jesus’ name
- The word of God cannot prosper in your life, and you cannot grow spiritually unless you understand the word of God. Verse 19 – When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
- Followers of Christ will surely face persecutions and turbulences Verse 21– Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
- A new Christian convert needs to be disciplined to be rooted in the word of God, otherwise the tribulations and persecutions of the world will cause him to backslide. Verse 21 – Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
- You cannot set your affection and interest on Christ and riches at the same time. The desire to acquire wealth stifles Christian growth and development. Verse 22 – He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. Choose between Christ or riches.
- Those that understand and abide by the word of God shall bear fruits of different depths, dimensions, and degree. Verse 23
