1. Nine recorded wives and several others.
   1. Abigail, the widow of Nabal – vs 42 “And Abigail hasted, and arose and rode upon an ass, with five damsels of hers that went after her; and she went after the messengers of David, and became his wife.”
   2. Ahinoam of Jezreal – vs 43 “David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel; and they were also both of them his wives.”
   3. Michal, Saul’s daughter – 1 Samuel 18 vs 28 “And Saul saw and knew that the Lordwas with David, and that Michal Saul’s daughter loved him.”, who later married Phalti, son of Laish – 1 Samuel 25 vs 44 “But Saul had given Michal his daughter, David’s wife, to Phalti the son of Laish, which was of Gallim.” Michal was later restored as his wife when he became King – 2 Samuel 3
   4. Bathsheba or Final, wife of Uriah, the Hittite – 2 Samuel vs 1-17
   5. Ahinoam of Jezreel – 1 Samuel 25 vs 43 David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel; and they were also both of them his wives.
   6. Maacah, daughter of Talmai. She was mother of Absalom and Tamar – 2 Samuel 3 vs 3 …and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur;
   7. Abital, mother of Shephatiah – 2 samuel 3 vs 4 And the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;
   8. Eglah, mother of Thream – 2 Samuel 3 vs 5
   9. Haggith, mother of Adonijah – 2 Samuel 3 vs 4 And the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital;
   10. Several other women not mentioned (2 samuel 3 vs 2-5 – ² And unto David were sons born in Hebron: and his firstborn was Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess; ³ And his second, Chileab, of Abigail the wife of Nabal the Carmelite; and the third, Absalom the son of Maacah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur; ⁴ And the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith; and the fifth, Shephatiah the son of Abital; ⁵ And the sixth, Ithream, by Eglah David’s wife. These were born to David in Hebron.

   1 Chronicles 3 vs 1-3 – Now these were the sons of David, which were born unto him in Hebron; the firstborn Amnon, of Ahinoam the Jezreelitess; the second Daniel, of Abigail the Carmelitess: ² The third, Absalom the son of Maachah the daughter of Talmai king of Geshur: the fourth, Adonijah the son of Haggith: ³ The fifth, Shephatiah of Abital: the sixth, Ithream by Eglah his wife.)
