Secrets of David’s safety

Read 1 Samuel 23

David was always successful because he enquired from the Lord before taking any action.

1. He enquired of the Lord before waging war against the Philistines, who had besieged Keilah – vs 2 “Therefore David enquired of the Lord, saying, Shall I go and smite these Philistines? And the Lordsaid unto David, Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.”

2. He enquired of the Lord about the location the battle against the Philistines should be waged, either in Judah or from Keilah – vs 4 “Then David enquired of the Lordyet again. And the Lord answered him and said, Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thine hand.”

3. He enquired of the Lord if King Saul came down to fight him in – vs 11 “Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as thy servant hath heard? O LordGod of Israel, I beseech thee, tell thy servant. And the Lord said, He will come down.”

4. He enquired of the Lord if the men of Keilah would betray him and deliver him into the hands of Saul – vs 12 “Then said David, Will the men of Keilah deliver me and my men into the hand of Saul? And the Lordsaid, They will deliver thee up.”

5. May we have the wisdom to seek the face of God before taking any action.
