Bible story of King Saul and David
Read 1 Samuel 20

What does the Bible tell us about the relationship between King Saul and David?
- King Saul was planning to kill David. King Saul wished that David would die.
- David could not identify any offence that he had committed to deserve death in the hands of the King – vs 1
- Jonathan initially disbelieved David’s fear that his father sought his life. Later. He was convinced that David’s fear was genuine.
- Saul hated David, Saul’s son, Jonathan loved David and even entered into a covenant of love between themselves to seek each other’s welfare – vs 8
- Saul vowed not to allow Jonathan inherit the throne because Jonathan allowed David to escape being assassinated by the king – vs 3.
- In anger, Saul almost killed his son Jonathan because he allowed David to escape – vs 33.
- Eventually, later in the Bible, we read about how Saul died tragically, and David survived him.
- If your ways are pleasant to God, the enemy would not be able to overcome you.
