| CHAFF OR WHEAT |
|
Memorise: “The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD” (Jer. 23:28). Read: Jeremiah 23:28-29 |
| There is need to prayerfully and carefully analyze your dreams before deciding on your next step. Satan can come to you in a dream and present your mother -in- law as if she was trying to poison you and in the process trigger a chain of enmity, bitterness and hatred aimed at destroying the family. Several manipulations are possible in dreams hence the need for care. Another reason dreams should not be relied upon is because they require interpretation. Dreams are usually not exactly what they appear to be. Only God has the correct interpretation. Some dreams may take place several degrees towards its essence while others may be opposite. Dreams most times are in coded form. All bits and pieces contained in a dream are symbolic. You need the Holy Spirit to enable you decipher your dreams. A good knowledge of symbols in scriptures is equally important. While in prison, Joseph had the privilege of interpreting two dreams, one each for Pharaoh’s butler and baker. Both of them offended Pharaoh and were thrown into prison where Joseph was. Both dreamt on the same day. The dreams were similar but with minor differences yet one dream led to death while the other led to restoration on the same day. When you have a dream before you start rejoicing or weeping, hear the interpretation of the dream first because you never can tell the direction it is heading. Moreover, of all these reasons, the most important reason you should not put much trust in dreams is because the word of God is superior to any dream. In today’s reading, dreams compared with the word of God are said to be chaff compared to wheat. What is the chaff compared to the wheat? If someone comes to say he dreamt that if you travel this December, you will die; tell him it is a lie because Psalm 121:8 says God will preserve your going out and your coming in. Whether you dream, have vision or prophecy is not as important as having God’s word. God’s word is superior to any dream or vision. You may not pray for visions; if God wants to show you visions He will. But pray that you may know Him and His word. |
