| CATEGORIES OF GREATNESS |
|
Memorise: “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us” (2 Corinthians 4:7). Read: Genesis 30:40-43 |
| There are categories of greatness. if you look around your town or city, you will find some people who once lived in affluence but today they are in abject poverty: There are also men of God who were greatly used of God in times past but their greatness has ebbed. I know a full gospel pastor who used to be on fire for the Lord. But he began to allow sin to come in little by little and ended up as a prophet in one of the white garment churches. These people, like King Saul saw their greatness crumble before their eyes. This shall not be your portion in Jesus’ name. Another category comprises those whose greatness lasted throughout their lifetime. Elijah is one of such people. He was highly anointed of God and walked in the miraculous until he was taken to glory in 2 Kings 2:11. A third category covers those whose greatness outlived them. Elisha walked in the double portion anointing of his predecessor. After his death, his bones were still performing miracles (2 Kings 13:21). This is the case of unlimited greatness. Your greatness shall outlive you. You shall be a beneficiary of unlimited greatness in the mighty name of Jesus. In 2 Kings 13:14, we were told that Elisha was sick. How can such a highly anointed man be sick? 2 Corinthians 4:7 says, “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us”. John 1:6 talks of a man – John the Baptist who was sent by God. Whatever the level of anointing or greatness, you are still a man in earthen vessels. I have wondered why during our Congress thousands of people will be healed of diverse sicknesses yet at the end of the programme, there will still be a few who will return on the wheel chair they came with. I made a case to God on their behalf saying, We cannot say these people have no faith because they came believing You can heal them. Your word says, You will heal all; why don’t you heal them now? He replied; things are the way they are, so that I can keep remembering that He is God and I am an ordinary man. According to Isaiah 40:28, God is the only One who can never be sick, tired or weak. Hence, He is able to heal us, raise us and strengthen us in times of need. You are on the path of greatness. Do all you can to continue in that path. |
