Bible Verses on Homosexuality and Sexual Violence
Read Judges 19

- It is often argued that there are no references to homosexuality in the Bible.
- This is not true. Judges 19 contains a story of homosexuality.
- The Bible narrated how some men in Gibeah wanted to have a sexual relationship with a Levite who was housed overnight by a person referred to as an “old man: – vs 22 (Now as they were making their hearts merry, behold, the men of the city, certain sons of Belial, beset the house round about, and beat at the door, and spake to the master of the house, the old man, saying, Bring forth the man that came into thine house, that we may know him.)
- The Bible described the sexual predator as “son of Belial”, a word that describes ungodly people.
- The hosts refused to release the Levite, but rather offered them a lady and the Levite’s concubine as a replacement.
- The sons of Belial eventually raped the concubine all night, sexually abusing her to death.
- Another lesson we can learn from this passage is that sexual sin – homosexuality, rape, and sexual violence- has been around since ancient times.
- Why would the Gibeah men heartlessly rape a woman till death? Human wickedness has been primordial.
