Bible Summary: Judges 12
Read Judges 12
Two things we learnt from Judges 12:

- Your destiny is in your hands. Don’t rely too much on others to help you succeed. You can define and shape your life.
- The people of Gilead faced attacks from the Ammonites. The children of Ephraim, who were blood brothers of the Gileadites, did not support the Gileadites in overcoming the Ammonites when the Gileadites requested assistance.
- The Gileadites then decided to fight the Ammonites on their own without the assistance of fellow tribes, especially the nearby Ephraimites.
- The story is recorded in Judges 12:1-3.
- Jephtha, who spoke on behalf of the people, said, “I put my life in my hands”.
- Until men decide to take up their destiny in their hands rather than the hands of friends or relationships, they will not overcome failure.
- The second lesson from this chapter is that inter-family petty jealousy, envy, wickedness, and enmity have existed since ancient days.
- Gilead and Ephraim were blood brothers, yet they agreed in wars, killing themselves over petty rivalry and jealousy. Judges 12:1-5
