Samson’s fifth step into destruction was going to marry an unbeliever. In Judges 14, he first set his eyes on a Philistine lady and ordered his parents to immediately bring her to him as wife. When they insisted that he should marry a fellow Israelite, what was his reply? He said she is right in his sight. He acted according to the lust of his eyes, If you are always admiring beautiful unbelieving ladies, it is a pointer that you are about to fall into a pit you may never come out of. Like Samson, you may give a spiritual reason for your action. You may say it is a strategy to win both the girl and her parents to Christ. Breaking God’s commandment in order to increase the Kingdom of God is a satanic strategy. It is like getting into armed robbery in order to build the house of God. As far as God is concerned, you are a spiritual criminal and must be judged.

Much later, Samson went and married Delilah. There was no record that his parents even gave their permission after their ordeal with the first Philistine. As a Christian parent, do not give your daughter’s hand in marriage to an unbeliever. Today, some parents would say, I don’t see anything wrong in my daughter marrying any man of her choice. He is a nice young man with good prospects. Joining your daughter with a man who is heading for hell is as good as saying you want her to go to hell. The truth is that the man is the head and he will direct and dictate to his spouse what should be done. It is better to either remain single or married to Jesus and enjoy peace for life than marry the wrong fellow.

Samson’s sixth step into destruction was that he played with fire and got burnt. Delilah plainly told him to reveal the secret of his strength so that they can destroy him yet instead of running for his life, he opened his mouth to his destruction. Today, more liberal’ churches which allow divorce and remarriage are springing up every where including Nigeria. Lastly, Samson was destroyed because of over confidence. Before his fall, he prayed only once (Judges 15:18-20). He felt he could do it all alone. Are you walking into a ditch? Better repent and amend your ways now.

In accomplishing anything in life, if the method is wrong, the result will be wrong.

If the method is right, the result will be acceptable.
