Memorise: “And Elisha prayed, and said. Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha” (2 Kings 6:17) Read: Revelation 1:10-19 |
| Through the gift of discerning of spirits God can cause His loved ones to see into the spiritual realm and be informed of an imminent great and important event. In Luke 1:11-17, God informed Zacharias that he was about to have a son. The Lord opened his eyes and he saw the angel who came with the message. Angels are spirit beings. We do not see them with our physical eyes, except our spiritual eyes are opened. Also, in Luke 1:26-37, it took God opening Mary’s spiritual eyes before she could see Angel Gabriel who brought the news of conception to her.
Howbeit, these were brief encounters. But in today’s reading, John the beloved, who had gone through the lower levels of divine revelations, received a clear, in-depth and prolonged insight into the realm of the spirit, as God gave him the Book of Revelation concerning the last-day events. How you handle the ‘flashes’ and brief revelations will determine if you can be allowed into the in-depth levels of activities in the realm of the spirit. How faithful are you in handling divine revelations? When the need arises to clearly explain a particular duty, the Lord can open the eyes of the fellow who would perform the task, or send an angel to him. For instance, if God is sending you against secret societies and the occult, He may open your eyes to see their likely defense, trap or danger surrounding that mission. It was through one of such angelic visits that Gideon received the courage to pull down his father’s idolatrous temple and resist the idolatrous community. God can open your eyes to show you that something important has taken place. He did that to the wise men in the east after Jesus was born. In 2 Kings 6:14-17, God opened the eyes of Elisha’s servant to see hope around him when he had ran out of hope. God Himself came into Nebuchadnezzar’s fire to meet His three heroes as a way of commending them for standing for Him. In addition, God may open the eyes of His warriors who are growing weary in battle, to show them the glory ahead as was the case with Paul (2 Corinthians 12:2-4). If God can show you what He has prepared for you in Heaven, your strength to continue and finish the race will be renewed. May the Lord open your eyes to see into the realm of the spirit from today in Jesus name. |

Pray that your physical and spiritual children will be greater than you. Let your investment in them reflect that desire. |
