Memorise: “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again” (2 Corinthians 5:15). Read: James 1:5-8 |
| “And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again” (2 Corinthians 5:15). Another reason God could be silent is to test your level of consecration. When you received Jesus into your life, you asked Him to become your Lord. At that point, you were bought over and became His property. The control over your life became His prerogative. At a time of silence, the Lord may want to see if when you do not feel Him, you will decide to run your life yourself, seek other alternatives or adopt satanic methods of problem solving. God’s silence could test the depth of your love and devotion to Him. Do you love the Lord? When you felt God was afar off, what did you do? Job stood out in this area. In spite of his sore troubles and God’s seeming distance, he made up his mind that whether God answered or not, whether He delivered him or not, whether he felt Him or not, he was going to keep his relationship with God intact (Job 13:15). God may also appear far away just to test your steadfastness. 1 Corinthians 15:58 says, “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” The one who will serve God steadfastly has no alternative to God, even when the chips are down. Like the Psalmist, his heart is fixed – securely pinned on the Lord. At a time when God seems far away, as long as there is no sin in his life, the steadfast Christian will abound the more in good works and services to the Kingdom, knowing that whether he feels God or not, his works are recorded and will surely be rewarded. How steadfast are you in the faith of Jesus, and in His service? How steadfast are you in trusting God for a particular request? Genesis 49:4 says, those who are unstable have no portion with excellence. Our passage today says the unstable soul is excluded from the list of beneficiaries of God’s blessings. Be steadfast in your Christian walk today! |
