You cannot make heaven by self-justification
Luke 18 vs. 14 –I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
- Jesus Christ warns against boasting of your righteousness and holiness.
- Jesus Christ encourages that he who thinks himself righteous be humble before God.
- The parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector shows that if you are paying your tithe and fasting, yet you are arrogant like the Pharisee, you will not make heaven.
- However, if you come to God with a humble heart, accept that you are a sinner, and plead your case under mercy, you will make heaven faster than the Pharisee.
- The lesson here is that no matter your heart of righteousness, do not justify yourself before God, and also, you should have a humble heart.
