Matthew 20
There are several life lessons you can learn from this parable.
- If you have work to do, go out in the morning and not in the afternoon or evening to hire labourers.
- If you are looking for a job, go out in the morning to get jobs. This means the morning of your life and the morning of the day. Companies generally prefer employing young graduates. So make yourself available for work immediately after finishing your studies, and if you are also looking for a job, go out in the morning for a job search.

- If you are looking for a job, position yourself for job opportunities. The labourers recruited in this parable were standing idle in the market. They may not have gotten the job if they did not go to the marketplace.
- Another lesson we can learn is that if a volunteer position comes to you first, accept it. We saw in vs 20 that some labourers were recruited without negotiating salary/pay with them, but eventually, they were given good wages. So, a volunteering role can be an entrance for you to get a good job.
- If you are an employer, give your employee the right salary and do not owe them their salaries. This passage shows that the householder gave what was right to the labourers he recruited.
Prayer
- Holy Spirit, make me a good employer and employee in Jesus’ name.
