1 Peter 3 King James Bible |
1 Likewise, ye wives, be in subjection to your own husbands; that, if any obey not the word, they also may without the word be won by the conversation of the wives;
2 While they behold your chaste conversation coupled with fear.
3 Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;
4 But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price
Does the Bible oppose wearing of Jewelers or putting on hair stlyes? The answer is No. What the Bible teaches in all the passages that dwells on Christian clothing is modesty.
This simply means what should wear should glorify God. What you wear on your head or wrist should not beautify you and glorify God. The Bible also teaches that you should place more emphasis on your inner character than you outer dressing.
God, more valuable than expensive and fashionable clothing or dressing.But this is not to say that the Bible opposes wearing of Jewelers, hair styles or dressing. If you look at 1 Peter verse 3 quoted above, the Bible talks about three things -hair dos, wearing of golden Jewelers, and
If we study the passage quoted above, we see the Bible talks about the need for Christian wives to be chaste, meek, quite and incorruptible. The word of God states that this is more important that the paraphernalia of any cloth you may be wearing.
So as a Christian woman, you should spend more time in developing your spirit than your body. You should spend more time in building your character to be Christ like than in building an expansive ward robe.
Adhering to Chrisitan virtues is priceless in the sight of clothing. If we interpret the scriptures in 1 Peter 1-3 that the Bible is against wearing of Jewelers and Hair dos, then we must also extend this to wearing of apparels, that is also mentioned in the passage. Of course this will be irrational and illogical.
The problem is that many Christian ladies have abused the liberty that the Bible grants in this context and are wearing Jewelers that are distractive, hair dos that are Jezebelic and clothing that are too revealing.
I guess it is for this reason that some Churches completely ban their members from wearing Jewelers, fashionable hair stlyes, and revealing clothing.
I believe every woman has to decide for herself what is right and proper to wear based on the scriptural teachings of modesty. Just let the Spirit of God to advice you whether it is proper for you to wear that Jeweler, hair do or clothing.

Yes a Christian woman should glorify god, in whatever she does, however this does not concern only how much jewelry or make up she wears. This has to do with modesty. A woman should not wear anything that will cause a man to have improper thoughts, so short skirts, or shirts that show even a little bit of cleavage are completely out of the question.
I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes. – 1 Timothy 2:9
Keep in mind the other scripture
But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
– Matthew 5:28
While it is possible that a woman dressed modestly can get improper attention from a man, we can not blame that on the woman. Though a woman that is dressed inappropriately is not only partaking in the mans sin, she is also causing it.
ok
Great post. If the Spirit of the Lord is in control of a lady, she would not know the struggles of dressing modestly. Everything about her will be decent and modest because humility is a fruit of the Spirit. Revealing dresses are products of a mind full of pride and lust.
I think the distractions here and there calls for one to be highly serious minded on the way one handles his\her christianity.
whatever one shows on the outside is a revelation of what one is made up with
beauty comes from ur quiet spirit within. death and destruction are never satisfied..like the eyes of a young man. dont be the reason for another’s downfall. u r not your own. you have been bought with a price.
Deuct. 22:5
Let us take time to study these scriptures. The standard of God in all situation does not change.
2 Timothy 2 verse 19,
Job 24 verse 2,
Hosea 5 verse 10
Proverb 22 verse 28,
Ecclesiastis 12 verse 13
WE ARE VERY CLOSE TO THE END WHERE THE DEVIL IS DOING HIS BEST TO HAVE DISCIPLES TO BE CAUGHT UNAWARE GLORIFY GOD IN YOUR DRESSING AND IN ALL YOU DO.
I cry out for this generation.in few years to come,i don’t know our fate.
It is fine to quote scripture and talk to each other about something on which we all agree already. The big question is where do you go to buy such clothing? I have worn myself to a frazzle traipsing from store to store and shop to shop trying to find nice, as well as presentable, clothing. I don’t think it exists any more.
Our outward appearance as a Christian should represent the condition of our inner man. U can b modest and still look beautiful as a Christian lady
Any way the bible tells us that the spirit of God bearer with our spirit that we are a child of God, The motive behind your dressing is very important, if you dress to entice a man, you can answer that for you self, and if you dress to glority God you can as well know, but it is better to wiegh and examine your self and any action in the light of the Holy Spirit before you can conclude to do a thing, for instant, this cloth that i am wearing ,if jesus should come down, and meet me with such apparel/cloth,will He admire me or turn His face against me, the bible says that on of the things that the Holy Spirit will do is to convict us that we are a sinner, thanks.
