Why do Christians need to pray to God?

• “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit”. -James 5:16-17
• “Then Jonah prayed unto the Lord his God out of the fish’s belly. And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the Lord, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice”- Jonah 2:1
• “All continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren – Acts1: 14
• And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. And as he prayed, the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering” –Luke 9:28-29

God enjoys prayers and wants us to keep talking to Him. The more time we spend with him in prayer, the closer He draws us to him.  Have you forgotten the fact that one of the reasons God created man is for companionship? God loves us and wants us to love him in return. How do you sustain a loving relationship apart from communicating?

• When a saint prays, the heavens are at attention ready to listen.
•  When a Christian prays, the ministering agents are at attention ready to be sent on errands by the father.
• When a Christian prays, the power of God is activated to fulfill our desires according to His will.
•  A Christian that starts praying is akin to a son that starts talking to His father. All unwanted visitors are kept outside, and all requests of the Son are granted with that hour according to the will of the father. This is the chief reason why Satan hates prayers and does all things to stop Christians from praying. Satan is always in the presence of God accusing you, and the only time God does not listen to such accusations is when you are talking to your God your father in prayer. Just like a father clears the room of all visitors when his loving son comes to his presence, so the heavenly father does not entertain Satan when you are with Him in prayer.
