Sermons on time management

Read: Luke 14:16-24

Another characteristic of a sluggard is mismanagement of time. Time is money. But more than that, it is one of your greatest assets on earth. Everything you do is spread within a period of time.

Ecclesiastes 3:1 says God has appointed a time for everything that takes place on earth. In Genesis chapter one, God assigned time to specific tasks.

At the end of one week, He could list out all His achievements for each day. Up till now, many leave their homes with no set objective in mind. Days, weeks, months and years go without achieving anything meaningful.

If you cannot set daily, weekly, monthly and yearly goals for yourself, your family, ministry, etc. and follow it up with a sense of commitment and high level of dedication, you are a sluggard. Time is a most valuable asset.

That is what you trade with to earn a living. You are expected to use it to equip yourself in needed skills, knowledge and education. How are you managing your time? If you cannot keep appointments or always go late for meetings, you are a sluggard.

“The sluggard will not plow by reason of the cold; therefore shall he beg in harvest, and have nothing” (Prov 20:4). Another mark of a sluggard is excuse making.

If the weather is what determines whether you will work or not, you are a sluggard. If you are always seeking for reasons or excuses for not doing what you should, you will find many. This is a major difference between successful and unsuccessful people.

While the former will not accept any reason to fail including legitimate ones, the latter will create reasons for not making attempts even when none exists. If your job or business is the excuse for not serving God, you are a sluggard.

The wife who keeps making excuses for not sexually satisfying her husband is a sluggard. If care is not taken, she will lose him to strange women.

Have you been using your admission into higher institution of learning as excuse for not daily living in righteousness or pleasing God? You are a sluggard. A sluggard is destined to fail.

You are a child of destiny and success, wealth and victory are part of your destiny. Reject every excuse for failure no matter how legitimate. You must reach your goal. Don’t be an excuse factory!
