Memorise: “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever” (Jn 14:16) Read: Luke 24:28-32 |
| There are certain things you lose and you are better off. For instance, if you lose the eyes or hands that keep you in sin, it is a beneficial loss (Matthew 5:29-30). There are certain things you lose which can be replaced. If you lose a job, contract or opportunity, through God’s help, you can regain them. But there are certain losses that you can never recover from.
Anyone who loses Jesus, has lost everything. Anyone who loses Jesus will live in darkness irrespective of his or her level of education (John 9:5). An uncle of mine once lived in London. He was an engineer. On returning to Nigeria, for fear of enemies, he felt he needed spiritual fortification. So, he visited a herbalist who instructed him to bring a particular leaf, spread it on the ground, excrete on it, pour a special powder on it and recite an incantation. After satisfying all the requirements of the medicine man, he returned home with such boldness of invincibility. Cholera almost snuffed life out of him! He has a degree in engineering but because He had no Jesus Christ, he was still walking in darkness. Psalm 23:1-3 says Jesus as my Shepherd provides me leadership and guidance. Anyone who loses Jesus has lost life and direction. If you see yourself going round in circles, or nothing ever works for you in spite of efforts, it could be because you do not have Jesus. Anyone who loses Jesus has lost comfort. John 14:16 says, “And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever”. If you are going through pain or sorrow but find it difficult to be comforted, it could be because you do not have Jesus. With Jesus, there is divine comfort which no man can give you. Now, you can understand why the two disciples of Jesus on the way to Emmaus village were in sorrow (Luke 24:13-17). Jesus gave them joy, peace, hope, comfort while still alive. But now they had lost Him. However, after the meal they had with the risen Lord, their eyes opened and they realized the One they thought was lost was with them. Where you are born plays a significant role in your life. God sent Ananias to Saul of Tarsus, not Saul of Damascus. Jesus is Jesus of Nazareth. There are certain forces in your home town whose activities affect your destiny. God will frustrate such forces in Jesus’ Name. Ask God to terminate every negative effect the place of your birth is having on you.
