THE CHIEF EXAMINER

Proverbs 21:2
Every way of a man is right in his won eyes, but the Lord weights the hearts.”
The psalmist prayed a prayer that is seldom prayed by many, yet it is a necessity if we want to have a meaningful relationship with the Lord.
The prayer can be found in Psalm 139:23. search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts” (KJN).
Why did the Psalmist make this request? Could he not search his own heart by himself? He did this because he could not rely on his own judgment concerning himself. Neither can you.
Have you realized that we can hardly a good judge in our affairs? More often than not we treat ourselves with kids gloves while we give heavy weight blows to others in judgment.
We are often the fairer or lenient judge when we are doing it behooves us to turn to the judgment of another; and this other judge is God Himself.
The issue here is aptly captured in our passage: Every way of a man in his won eyes. Just like every thing a hawker sells is good to him. I challenge someone the other day who was asking a seller if his product was good. I told her no business person will ever admit that what he is offering is not good. Of course, the sellers answered in the affirmative.
But when the product was unwrapped and tasted it wasn’t worth it at all. We may be doing things and feel by our won standard that we care doing pretty well. That does not mean we have scored the pass mark.
The best assurance can only come if we turn to see our scorecard now and make amends where necessary, than wait until the day of great arrives where their will be no more room for correction.
Prayer:- Deliver me, Dear Lord, from self delusion
