The major proverbs in this chapter are the following;
Commentary 
- God can change the heart of the king – vs. 1, The king’s heart is in the hand of the Lord, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.
- It is not good to live in the same house with a contentious woman – vs. 9, It is better to dwell in a corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman in a wide house.
- A gift turns anger into a smile – vs. 14, A gift in secret pacifieth anger: and a reward in the bosom strong wrath.
- Anyone who loves the pleasures of wine, including buying different kinds of drinks, will soon come to poverty -vs. 17, He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man: he that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
- God will use the wicked as a ransom for the righteous, vs 18, The wicked shall be a ransom for the righteous, and the transgressor for the upright.
- No matter the security you prepare for yourself, it’s only God that can protect you – vs. 31, The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the Lord.
