Read Numbers 25

1. One of the laws God gave the Israelites as they entered the promised land was that they should not marry the residents of that land.
2. The reason God gave that law is to avoid satanic contamination, as the residents of that land were idolaters.
3. And God knows that if you marry an unbeliever, he/she would lead you astray just the way Solomon was led astray by strange women.
4. God called those potential women strange women because they are strangers to your God. They do not know your God.
5. In Numbers 25, an Israelite whose name was Zimri, married a woman called Cozbi. When this was discovered, Phinehas, the son of Aaron the priest, killed Zimri and Cozbi with a javelin.
6. For doing this, god was happy with Phinehas and made a covenant of peace with him and his descendants.
7. This story shows us why Christians should not marry an unbeliever, because under Mosaic law, it was punishable by death.
