Evils of Rehoboam
1 Kings 14
- Rehoboam was the son of Solomon, who ruled Judah after the kingdom was divided by Jeroboam.
- He did evil in God’s sight – vs.22, And Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done.
- They provoked the jealousy of God through idolatrous sin.
- He built evil altars, groves, images – vs 23 For they also built them high places, and images, and groves, on every high hill, and under every green tree.
- Idols were multiplied in the land – vs. 23
- Judah became populated with sodomites (male sex sinners) – vs 24. And there were also sodomites in the land: and they did according to all the abominations of the nations which the Lordcast out before the children of Israel.
- Abominations become common in Judah – vs.24
