David’s kindness

Read 2 Samuel 9

1. David was compassionate, forgiving, and not vengeful.
2. King Saul was his archenemy, a stubborn pursuer who wished David death.
3. But God protected David from the hands of Saul.
4. After the death of Saul, David came to the throne, and he still showed mercy to the house of his enemy.
5. David traced the grandson of Saul through Jonathan, a lame child called Mephibosheth.
6. David restored Saul’s land to him and brought him to Jerusalem to eat continually at the King’s table.
7. Though Jonathan was David’s friend, it is still remarkable that David loved Saul’s grandchild.
