David’s kindness
Read 2 Samuel 9

- David was compassionate, forgiving, and not vengeful.
- King Saul was his archenemy, a stubborn pursuer who wished David death.
- But God protected David from the hands of Saul.
- After the death of Saul, David came to the throne, and he still showed mercy to the house of his enemy.
- David traced the grandson of Saul through Jonathan, a lame child called Mephibosheth.
- David restored Saul’s land to him and brought him to Jerusalem to eat continually at the King’s table.
- Though Jonathan was David’s friend, it is still remarkable that David loved Saul’s grandchild.
