| WHO IS A FALSE PROPHET? |
|
Memorise: “And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not” (2 Peter 2:3). Read: 2 Peter 2:1-3 |
| “And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many” (Matthew 24:11). This prophecy has come to pass in our time. We ought to be very careful. How would you recognize a false prophet? Usually false prophets oppose the truth of God’s word. He does not preach sound doctrines. He will not dwell on holiness or continue to condemn sin because he is still living in sin. A false prophet is not sent by God but by his stomach or Satan. “And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not” (2 Peter 2:3). Anyone who asks you to pay for prayers is a false prophet. Anyone who begins to sell anointing oil and some other materials they claim are specially anointed is a false prophet. Jude 11 says “Woe unto them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gain saying of Core”. Anyone who tells you the blood of Jesus that was shed 2000 years ago has become inadequate and therefore you should go and bring a fowl, goat, candles and other materials to make sacrifices to God, is a false prophet. A babalawo is much better than he. Anyone who secretly or publicly calls and invokes demons in the name of ‘angels’ is a false prophet. Anyone who uses satanic powers is a false prophet. Anyone who tells you to fornicate with him and you will conceive is a false prophet. Run as fast as your legs can carry you. Anyone who combines the Bible with any other religion is a false prophet. Any pastor or prophet whose eyes are full of lust and adultery and would want to touch you in sensitive parts of your body or visit you at night and pray long ‘prayers’ is a false prophet (Matt. 23:14). Any one who calls himself Christ, God, or Holy Spirit is a false prophet. Anyone who teaches heresy is a false prophet. The fellow who always want to terrorize you with fearful prophecies capable of keeping you in bondage is a false prophet. Anyone whose prophecies do not come to pass is a false prophet. Jesus says you should beware of those who come to you like sheep but have the character of wolves (Matt. 7:18). Anyone miracle worker who can prophesy very well but is having two or more wives or is still living in sin is a false prophet. Beware! Anything you receive from such people is a curse not a blessing. |
