| PRAYERS OF SAMSON |
|
Memorise: ”For there is hope of a tree, if it be cut down, that it will sprout again, and that the tender branch thereof will not cease” (Job 14:7). Read: Judges 16:22, Judges 16:28-30 |
“Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven” (Judges 16:22). Samson’s hair which was shaven began to grow again. This points to the magnanimity, and graciousness of the Most High God. When He forgives, He forgets. God is quite unlike us who three years after certain offences, would recall and recount them as if they happened yesterday. Ask God to make you like Him in forgiveness. Are you a backslider? If you can truly repent of your evil ways now, you will be forgiven and restored. Although most Christians who were anointed have had to backslide at one time or the other, it is possible to be anointed but never backslide. Elisha is a good example. Paul is another example. These served the Lord from the beginning to finishing point. I have resolved to continue to bum hotter for Jesus every passing day until the day He will call me home. There are special blessings for those who finished strong. You can be one of them. Delete backsliding from your register! ![]() Let us examine Samson’s prayers. Whether Samson prayed once or twice in his entire lifetime is just too inadequate. In Judges 15:18 Samson queried God. He did not pray. Today’s reading contains his real prayer. First he asked God to remember him. That is the good cry for the backslider. If you are no more used of God, pray this prayer. He also requested for strength because when you backslide, your power disappears. He added ‘only this once’. That is a wise prayer because as far as God is concerned, He will tolerate backsliding just once. The prodigal son left home once and on his return never, left again. If you backslide more than once, the enemy may not spare you. Another thing was that Samson prayed with a wrong vendetta. He wanted to avenge his eyes that he lost in foolishness. This shows he had not learnt his lesson. He was not concerned for the glory of God he had dragged into the mud. What is your motive behind your requests from God? James 4:3 says if you ask just to feed the lust of your flesh, you may never get an answer. If your request glorifies God’s name and Kingdom, you can be assured that the answer will come. |

Have you fallen? Ask God for a restoration. Are you standing? Ask for grace never to fall again. |
