| ASTONISHED |

Memorise: “And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another. What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? (Mark 4:41). Read: Mark 4:35-41 |
| “For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken” (Luke 5:9). After a brief encounter with Jesus, a period of nothingness turned into abundance. Peter could not help being amazed. The scripture says he was ‘astonished’. To be astonished is to see a great wonder or something that causes you to open your mouth for loss of words to describe it. If you are associated with Jesus Christ, you must be prepared for daily wonders. Our Lord thrilled people through His mighty works and wisdom in Matthew 15:29-31 and they were astonished. When He healed the man four people brought to Him, the people were astonished (Mark 2:1- 12). At Jairus’ house where He raised up the dead girl, people were filled with astonishment. In today’s reading, after He made a statement, the wind ceased and the waters experienced a great calm. The disciples who had witnessed several amazing events through their Master could not help but ask “What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? (Mark 4:41B). “Who is like unto thee, 0 LORD, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?” (Exodus 15:11). One reason He provokes so much astonishments in people’s lives is because Isaiah 9:6 calls Him ‘Wonderful’. That means ‘full of wonders’ If He is active in your life, He will fill you with wonders. When believers praise Jesus, many unbelievers would say we are doing so simply because we are His followers, not because He does the marvelous things we claim He did. They feel we are biased. This is why I am eager to hear idol worshippers testify of their encounter with Jesus. In Daniel 4:1-3, Nebuchadnezzar an outstanding idol worshipper testified of Jesus after an encounter in the burning fiery furnace. Some years later, his successor also testified of Jesus in Daniel 6:26-27. In Daniel 6:27, he says “He delivereth and rescueth, and he worketh signs and wonders in Heaven and in earth, who hath delivered Daniel from the power of the lions”. Are you a believer? From now on, the Lord will fill your life with signs and wonders. You will have a daily dose of positive astonishments. Draw near to Him. Praise and worship Him for all His mercies and thank Him for His faithfulness. You will see something that will amaze you. He will perform His wonders in your life and through you this season! |
