 People have often asked me why I have had to go through so much temptations. The answer is that the road to Heaven is a narrow one with several obstacles. But I am determined to be victorious. Just as the Heroes of faith fought with giants, lions and unholy decrees yet overcame, so also we will fight battles and be victorious in Jesus name. In taking a quick look at our past, we can correctly say we were ignorant and blind. Ephesians 4:18 of our reading says: “Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart. The satanic agent asked him to spread a particular set of leaves on the floor, pass faeces on it, mix the faeces with some other things and eat. He ate and went home rejoicing that he was now immuned against witchcraft attacks. Many of you as unbelievers, if you were asked to mix noodles (indomie) with a lizard that was dissected and burnt in your presence and to eat it as a solution to your problem, you would obey. Thank God for opening our eyes through salvation in Christ. Acts 26:16-18 says through the gospel our eyes are opened, we are turned from darkness to light and from satanic power to God’s. Galatians 4:8 also says we used to be idol worshippers. I remember when I was young, we used to accompany a particular woman to make certain sacrifices to a particular tree. One day when we got there, ants had already eaten up the tree. She looked for another one. I wondered that the gods she was sacrificing to are breads for ants. Ephesians 2:11-12 also says when we were sinners, we were hopeless, without God and had no promise to claim from the Lord. Today as believers, we have several promises, hopes and the true God. As you recall how you used to be and how you are now, go to the Lord with thanksgiving for saving your soul and removing the darkness and hopelessness. He deserves your praise and thanksgiving. |
