Jesus as the redeemer
Numbers 3 vs. 45 – Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the Lord.

- The firstborn belongs to God under the Mosaic laws, whether the firstborn of a family or the firstborn of cattle.
- In modern times, it can be interpreted as the first salary in a new job, although some churches view it as the first salary of every new year.
- Under the Mosaic law, God told the Israelites to substitute their human and livestock firstborn with the tribe of Levi – vs. 45
- This was a symbol of what was to happen later when Jesus redeemed us from having to pay the price of the firstborn.
- Jesus came as the firstborn, and now we are no longer required to offer our firstborn of human or animal or income to God.
