Jesus as the redeemer

Numbers 3 vs. 45 – Take the Levites instead of all the firstborn among the children of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the Lord.

1. The firstborn belongs to God under the Mosaic laws, whether the firstborn of a family or the firstborn of cattle.
2. In modern times, it can be interpreted as the first salary in a new job, although some churches view it as the first salary of every new year.
3. Under the Mosaic law, God told the Israelites to substitute their human and livestock firstborn with the tribe of Levi – vs. 45
4. This was a symbol of what was to happen later when Jesus redeemed us from having to pay the price of the firstborn.
5. Jesus came as the firstborn, and now we are no longer required to offer our firstborn of human or animal or income to God.
