When God become the enemy

Lamentations 2 verse 5

⁵ The Lord was as an enemy: he hath swallowed up Israel, he hath swallowed up all her palaces: he hath destroyed his strong holds, and hath increased in the daughter of Judah mourning and lamentation

1. God was described as the enemy of Israel
2. God turned to an enemy of Israel because of the disobedience of the Israelites
3. In the book of Exodus, God was described as the lover of the people of Israel. For the Bible quoted God as saying ‘Israel, I love’’
4. But in the Book of Jeremiah, love has turned to hatred
5. The simple reason why God’s love turned to hatred was because of sin, particularly the sin of idolatry
6. The lesson here is that God’s love for us is conditional, and the condition is obedience
7. May God not become your enemy in Jesus name
