| “Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil” (Eph 6:11). Every believer is engaged in a spiritual warfare whether they know it or not, believe it or not. This is why we are asked to put on the whole armour of God. This tells us that God exists unlike the fool who doubts His existence (Ps 14:1). Also, God who knows the kind of warfare we are to engage in, has adequately designed a special armour – special metal clothing soldiers wear to protect their bodies. We do not wear armour to Sunday School, dancing floor, etc.
It is strictly to protect us in time of war. This tells us that our God is not a civilian. Exodus 15:3 calls Him a Man of war – that is the war veteran. In Psalm 24:8-10, you will discover that God is not just a soldier but also the Commander-in-Chief of the heavenly forces. God’s armour – like the conventional type has many parts: to cover the head, chest, waist, feet, a shield for defending oneself and a sword for fighting (Eph 6:14-17).
God’s armour is worn externally. It is not internal, that is, the fact that you are born again does not automatically mean you are putting on God’s armour. When you are saved, God comes into you (Col 1:27). Although the armour of God is free of charge like salvation, yet you have to accept and internalize it before what is freely offered becomes effective in your life. While celebrating his chieftaincy title, a particular chief in my town asked the town crier to go round the town and tell everyone that he would feed them for the next three days. He asked taxi drivers to put the fares of those coming to his house to his account. He also asked everyone coming, to write their names and addresses and put them into their pockets so that should they become drunk, he could arrange for them to be taken home. In spite of such a generous invitation, many did not attend the party. Salvation is free yet most of those to whom it was offered will still go to hell. God’s armour is free but it is your duty to accept and put it on. You have a choice to reject it. However, if you fail to put on God’s whole armour, you will pay dearly for it. God will not force you to be saved or to wear His armour. In Revelation 3:20 He says He stands and knocks at the door of your heart. Why does He not break the door and enter in by force? It is because He is not an armed robber. Also, if you fail to open to Him, one day, you too will knock at His door and He will not open. You have opportunity of putting on His armour today. Do so and leave nothing out. |
| If you keep seeing yourself naked in dreams, check yourself: you might have ignored a vital armour. |
