| Memorise: “Until the spirit be poured upon us from on high, and the wilderness be a fruitful field, and the fruitful field be counted for a forest” (Is 32:15)
Read: Ezekiel 37:1-10 |
| In today’s reading, the Lord took Ezekiel to a valley full of dry bones. But by the time God was through, Ezekiel left a great army behind. This talks of the power of divine partnership. This year, the Lord will use you to do the impossible as you yield to Him in Jesus’ Name. What do we mean by dry bones? Bones are a very significant part of a body – whether human or animal. Bones never exist on their own.
Usually, bones are not meant to be seen just like that. Whenever you see a bone, it is clear to all that something has died. Dry bones could refer to something that used to be precious, healthy and strong. An example of a dry bone is Sarah. For many years, she trusted God for a child. By the time she was about 90 years, she had given up hope of ever becoming a mother. She had concluded she was a dry bone, hence she laughed when God said she would have a child in nine months’ time. Do you consider yourself a dry bone because age and time appear no longer in your favour concerning what you are expecting? The Lord who did it for Sarah will do yours this season. Dry bones could also refer to dreams, ambitions, and aspirations that have been reduced to nothing. A good example was Moses. At age 40, he was bubbling with zeal as an Egyptian prince ready to lead the Israelites out of bondage. He was ready to fight, be the deliverer and terminate the suffering of his people. But one single event caused him to flee to the backside of the desert. After another 40 years, he had forgotten his dream to set Israel free. He had grown cold on what made him tick when much younger. But when God appeared to him and told him the time had come to awaken his sleeping dream, Moses told God He must have made a mistake. Are you a dry bone? Have you abandoned your dream of becoming somebody great, or doing something outstanding for God’s Kingdom? It is time for such dreams to come alive. The Lord will resurrect your dead dreams. That lost idea is coming back. The zeal to accomplish for God that had ebbed will be on fire again. Your dry bones shall rise again. That dry bone in your life shall demonstrate the power of the Most High God. |
