Matthew 11 has two central messages, the necessity for spiritual violence to enter the kingdom of God, and the divine formula for entering divine rest and peace of mind while on earth.
Since the death of John the Baptist in the hands of a sinner, no Christian is permitted to be a gentleman or lady. (vs.12) – And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force
- Jesus also spells out the divine formula for overcoming troubles:
- Surrender your life to Christ – come unto Christ (vs.28) – Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
- Be an evangelist – take His yoke upon youself (vs.28) – Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
- Study the word- learn of me (vs.28) – Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
