Six month Night Vigil: Month 2 Week 3, Day 4
Section 8: Winning souls for God
Read the announcement here:
Section A: Praise and worship (12 midnight – 12 20am)
Sing songs of praise to God
Trust and Obey
Stanza 1:
When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain:
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Stanza 2:
Not a burden we bear,
Not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss,
Not a frown or a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.
(Refrain)
Stanza 3:
But we never can prove
The delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favour He shows,
For the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
Section B: Bible study (12.20am -12.40am)
Psalm 44
1 Corinthian 9:16
16 For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!
NKJV
Evangelism is defined as spreading the good news of salvation with the purpose of ensuring the conversion of unbelievers into Christianity. ‘Evangelistes’, the Greek word for evangelism means a ‘bringer of good tidings’,
Evangelism is not the mere testimony of a good, consistent life. The quiet, pervasive influence of the Christian life is necessary — but it is not evangelism. Being friendly, helpful, and neighbourly may be a necessary preparation for evangelism, but it is no substitute for evangelism. Christianity cannot be radiated; truths about God and his Son have to be communicated. Good deeds do not convey the actual content of the gospel; the good news must be expressed in words.
Evangelism is the presenting of Jesus Christ, so that men will accept Him as their Saviour from the guilt and power of sin, and declare Him Lord as they seek to follow Him in their daily lives.
The task of soul winning should be the preoccupation of every Christian since we are saved by grace in order to reach out to others. Every Christian is therefore meant to be an Evangelist, and no Christian should wait to be ordained to do the work of Evangelism. Once a person becomes born again, he automatically becomes an Evangelist and is expected to carry out the work of Evangelism.
Section C: Prayers (12.40am -1:00am)
- Pray that the Lord will use you as an instrument to preach the Good News of his redemption.
