As you develop your spirit, there are certain revelations that would come to you which the Lord will ask you to reveal during your preaching.
Ephesians 6:19 says: “And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel.”
There are some sermons people will not want to hear. No preacher likes to preach an unwanted sermon. But if you have received the gift of tongues, the boldness is released to enable you declare unpalatable sermons without fear or favour.
If you are not sure of what God told you, it may be necessary to seek counsel from senior pastors and spiritual elders.
Man is a tripartite being comprising the spirit, soul and body. Just as you grow in your body (physically), and in your soul (mentally) so also should you grow in your spirit. Luke 2:40 says: “And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.”
For most believers the emphasis is still on the body. Hence they can hardly skip a meal or fast. Such a growth automatically negatively affects their spirit-man. The emphasis should be on your spirit man. A comparison of the growth of two babies – Jesus and John the baptist as recorded in Luke 2:40 and Luke 1:80 respectively reveals that while they were growing at normal rate physically, their spiritual growth rate was double.
Hence divine wisdom and grace of God were released on Jesus. If you want wisdom and God’s grace to increase in your life, double the effort towards spiritual growth and development.
“And I, brethren, would not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ” (1 Corinthians 3:1).
Anyone who grows physically but does not grow in the spirit, remains a baby. He will be a physical adult and a baby in spirit. Since the spiritual controls the physical, such a babe will be ill- prepared to face the storms of life expected of spiritual adults. He will be unable to accept responsibilities.
Such would be at the mercy of every wind of doctrine and every satanic wind. God will always abandon the spiritually dwarfed for a mature believer in apportioning very important assignments. Work on yourself today!
Ask God to deal with everything that is working against spiritual maturity in your life.
